Born in South Africa to Greek parents, Dimitri Dimitri qualified in dentistry at KU Leuven in Belgium – Belgium’s leading university, whose Department of Oral Health Sciences is consistently ranked among the world’s top dental schools – before moving to the UK. After working as an associate in Scotland and then in Brighton, he founded Hove Dental Clinic in 2016, creating a practice built around high clinical standards and calm, individual care.
Dimitri has always been drawn to both the science and art of dentistry. Over the years, his interest has increasingly focused on taking a holistic view of dental care and understanding the important relationship between oral health and a patient’s wider health and wellbeing.
Dimitri speaks English, Greek, and Dutch/Flemish and works at our Portland Road clinic in Hove.
Dimitri’s qualifications include:
After qualifying as a dentist, Dimitri spent two years working as an associate dentist in Scotland before moving to Brighton in 2008. He worked in private practice in the city until 2016, when he founded Hove Dental Clinic.
He is also a member of the British Dental Association (BDA).
Dimitri provides a broad range of general dental treatments and has particular clinical interests in:
His experience across different areas of dentistry allows him to consider each patient’s individual needs and recommend treatment with their long-term dental health in mind.
For Dimitri, good dentistry begins with understanding the person behind the patient. His approach has developed to take a more holistic view of dental care, including consideration of the oral microbiome and the relationship between dental health and wider wellbeing. This also means carefully considering the procedures and products used within the clinic, as well as those patients use as part of their dental care at home.
Compassion and patience are central to this approach. Dimitri understands that visiting the dentist can be difficult for some people, particularly those who feel nervous or anxious about treatment. He believes in taking the time to understand each patient, explain their options clearly, and help them feel comfortable making decisions about their dental health.
Dimitri founded Hove Dental Clinic to provide exceptionally high standards of dentistry while ensuring patients are treated with compassion, honesty, and respect. He is proud of what the team has achieved since the clinic opened in 2016 and continues to strive for what he describes as the “gold standard” in dental care.
That philosophy extends throughout the practice. Dimitri expects every member of the Hove Dental Clinic team to share the same commitment to high clinical standards and compassionate patient care.
For Dimitri, continuing to learn and improve is an important part of maintaining those standards. Above all, his aim is for every patient who visits Hove Dental Clinic to feel listened to and confident that their dental health is being cared for as an individual.
